Held at the scenic Nyack Seaport on March 7th, Berea Nyack SDA Church’s 2nd annual Crown of Glory Senior Appreciation Gala, birthed by Dr Andrew Philbert,  was a powerful and heartfelt celebration of legacy, service, and community impact—bringing together approximately 200 attendees for an evening dedicated to honoring those who have faithfully poured into others.

Berea Nyack SDA  and Spring Valley SDA Adventist Youth Ministries, Family Life,  local community leaders, and friends filled the room, united by a shared purpose: to give “flowers to the living” and recognize the immeasurable contributions of seniors among us.

At the heart of the evening was the recognition of 9 outstanding local community members from different walks of life, each honored for their unwavering commitment to community development, youth mentorship, and a life marked by service rather than status. Youth were given the opportunity to witness, firsthand, the value of wisdom, perseverance, and faith lived out over time. It was a living exchange—where stories were shared, lessons were passed down, and inspiration was sparked for the next generation to carry the torch forward.

A highlight on outreach and community engagement opportunities added another layer of purpose to the evening, supporting ongoing youth programs and inviting attendees to remain actively involved in strengthening the community.

The Crown of Glory Gala stands as a testament to the truth found in Book of Proverbs 16:31: “Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness”—honoring lives that reflect wisdom, resilience, and a deep commitment to serving others. It is not just an event—it was a movement of outreach, gratitude, recognition, and enduring connection.
